In Louisiana, all active real estate licensees are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education coursework to renew their license for each renewal period. In addition, the Louisiana Real Estate Commission requires that your continuing education coursework includes the LREC mandatory topic(s).
LREC MANDATORY COURSE TOPIC (2022)
For the renewal period which ends December 31, 2022, the mandatory topic for ALL Louisiana Real Estate Licensees is:
2022 Mandatory Course Topic – 36 Ways to Lose Your License
- Must be taken by all salespersons, associate brokers, and brokers
- There is no broker specific mandatory in the 2022 renewal cycle
More Information on Continuing Education Requirements:
- All licensees must take the 2022 Mandatory Course Topic – 36 Ways to Lose Your License course as well as eight (8) hours of LREC approved electives.
- Licenses will need to be renewed by the deadline of September 30th and we highly suggest your education also to be completed at this time. You may renew your license prior to completing all continuing education requirements, the deadline for education completion is still December 31.
New Licensees ONLY:
- In the year issued, an initial licensee will only be required to complete the mandatory continuing education requirement mentioned below prior to renewing an active license. This does not relieve the licensee of the post-licensing education mentioned below if it falls due within the year the license is issued.
- Post-license Education is a specific 45-hour requirement that must be completed within 180 days from your initial/upgraded license date.
- Continuing Education is an annual 12-hour requirement that includes hours in mandatory course topic(s) specified by the Commission.
- In the year completed, your post-licensing education hours may be used to satisfy a portion of the 12-hour annual continuing education requirement; however, post-licensing education hours will not satisfy the mandatory course topic(s) hours specified by the Commission.
